Can we do the Imposible?

Can this be done?  Is it really possible? Should I even hope . . . . dream?

Take a family of 10 across the nation, sing in Washington DC, and catch the sights on the way home. . . . .hmmm, how long would that take?  How much would it cost? Do I dare even wish?

Research, questions, -- others are doing it, they think it's possible, why not me?

2 weeks, 4 days there, 4 days in DC, and a week to return. $3000, ouch!  That is a lot of money!  $3000?

Funny how little things decide your path, it rarely is the grand, the extreme, but the thing that is not said, the quiet pause in an unexpected time that you just can't get out of your head.

My plea, mostly convincing myself -- A trip of a lifetime!  Next summer will be the last summer my family will all be together, when will an opportunity like this ever come up again? To perform in one of the most beautiful concert halls in our nation, IN our nation's capital, to record a CD, to view our nation.  This will be so educational for our children, what a growing experience.  That is worthy of going into debt for, isn't it? My children are growing up, their childhood slipping through my fingers, this is important!  They need this! We would never be able to go if not, $3000 is impossible to come up with! This is worth it, right?

Then comes the quiet pause. . . . no answer, no agreeing, just silence.

Funny how silence is so hard to get out of your head.  Silence.  Uggg, that blasted silence.

That absence of sound haunted me for for days!

FINE!  We won't go into debt for it, but we ARE going! Well, at least I'm going to try to go, and if Heavenly Father wants to bless us with it, we will be there.  If not, well at least we tried.

I gathered the troops-  Is this something you want to do?  "YES!"
Is this something you are willing to sacrifice for?  "YES!"

Goals were set, a plan was made and we put it out on good 'ol Facebook.

It's a chance of a life time for all 6 of us!
The response was surprising, confusing to be honest.  Are they really helping us?  I half expected them to be sitting in their homes mocking us.  "Why should we help them go on vacation?"  But instead we were met with encouragement, love, compliments, praise to our desire to work hard.  I have never felt such an outpouring of love and tenderness from neighbors and friends.  My heart melted!

Heavenly messages/lessons were being taught to my heart daily, hourly.  I have lived in this neighborhood for over 8 years.  8 Years!  and I have never chosen to serve them.  Never really chosen to interact in a meaningful way.  Nothing more than light conversation and smile and a wave.  No wonder I have felt empty.  "You love those you serve."  Where have a been?  Why have I been so selfish?

We had 4 weeks of absolute whirlwind!  Trying to manage the chaos and everyday life, plus a week long trip to Arizona for JaRee's wedding in the middle of it took nothing short of a miracle to pull off, but pull off we did.

The very last day before we left we sold a broken car for $275 and surpassed our goal by $1.  :)  $3001.  Amazing how humbling it is when you realized you accomplished the impossible, and it was NOT by our doing.  $30000 . . . .  earned in 3 weeks, by 6 kids (17-6) Humble gratitude, and the realization that God loves us.
